History of the Instrument

After graduating from art high school, Chiara was admitted to the Civic School of Violin Making in Milan. At the start of her second year, she developed a particular interest in baroque instruments, focusing on their history and acoustics. To enhance her education, Chiara attended various courses, including “Sculpture of Heads for Baroque Instruments” and “Inlay in Violin Making” with Enrico Allorto in Milan, as well as “Restoration of Stringed Instruments” with Carlos Arcieri in Biella.

During her fourth and final year at the Civica Scuola di Liuteria, Chiara began working with violin maker Giacomo Rocca, who took her on as an assistant for nearly three years, splitting her time between work and study in Turin and Milan. On weekends during this period, she gained valuable experience in instrument setups at the “Accordi” musical instrument shop in Milan, a role she held for three years.

After graduating in 2020, Chiara settled in Turin but continued to commute to Milan on weekends. In 2021, she worked for a couple of months at Pierre Bohr in Milan before collaborating with Gibertoni and Nalin on the construction of a baroque violin. She spent the next eight months working with them while also continuing her work with Giacomo Rocca and at “Accordi.” In November 2022, Chiara entered her first competition, the VSA in Los Angeles, California, where she received positive feedback from all three judges regarding the acoustics of her violin.

In February 2023, she had the excellent opportunity to learn new setup methods from Olivier Legrand in Lausanne, Switzerland, which inspired her to open her own workshop. In May 2023, she acquired a laboratory, which was inaugurated in September of the same year. By December 2023, Chiara attended an event in Tokyo dedicated exclusively to her violins, marking a significant step in starting her business abroad.
